Is There a Moral Injury in Medicine?

I think we imagine that our job is to make people feel safe, and that's really good if you can do it, but if you can't always do it. Sometimes when people are dying, it doesn't feel safe to them. So I can't convince them of that. All I can do is be a non-judgmental, loving, compassionate presence who's curious and vulnerable. That's what allows me to build an empathetic bridge from my experience to theirs.
