The Gospel of John and the Movement Through the Tabernacle
I was struck again with how persuasive it is that he has Jesus on a tour of the tabernacles, what he describes. We start out with a number of chapters where a focal topic of interest is an issue of purification or cleansing. And there's a newness, but a newness of something that is familiar. It seems to me that that framework helps us to understand this comprehensive death and resurrection of the Old Covenant...and its whole history.
