St. Louis vs. Speak Little

Lying, double dealing, and dissimulation are always signs of a weak and vile spirit. St. Louis held that one should not contradict anyone in conversation unless agreement were either sinful or very harmful. If it is an important matter, he ought not talk about it at all. To be always babbling and making light conversation thereby affording neither leisure nor opportunity for others to speak is the mark of a shallow and frivolous spirit. So we could say manifest or come to bear in our speech how we talk about other people.
