After three years, $8 million of expenses and multiple guilty pleas, the new Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel decided to dismiss all depending criminal cases. Prosecutors alleged that the investigation had been botched and pledged to start over from scratch. As of February 2019, more than 75 lawsuits have been filed in regards to the crisis.
