The Government's Proposed Protective Order Was Rejected
The government reached out even the day before arraignment to defense counsel about a protective order. They waited, I think, until the day after arraignment to get back to the government saying, Nope, we don't like it. So they went back to the drawing board and modeled the second one after a protective order that had been recently entered by an DC district court judge. The name of the game was delay. If you have one side basically say I'm never getting back to you, then it's going to delay discovery delaying discovery means delaying the trial date.
