I think what this conversation shows us is that we do need to talk about financial privilege and academia, right? Like even as professors for God's sake. Unfortunately, my dad wasn't with me anymore when I did my PhD. It was something that he wanted to see me do. But I feel guilty because I'm still paying for my own education.
