She was like, I needed to pretend to be insane so that they would take me. So then once she got into the asylum, she like went to this asylum. She basically called it like a human rat trap. Once you're in there, it's impossible to get out. The patients were beaten and they were given rotten food and drink dirty water. They sat all the women in a giant room all day on straight back benches from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. And some of them just didn't speak English. This was obviously before there was any sort of reform.
