The Catholic Church and the Eastern Churches

I've seen examples of members of s s p x chapels being very vocal against people joining eastern churches. And when we lived in atlanta, my wife encountered this lovely s s p X priest forcassic who said you really shouldn't be going to an eastern catholic church. So i think what we're dealing with is a mentality which leo the thirteenth tried to start getting rid of.
