Russian Soldiers in Belarus - What Are They For?
Most of these soldiers, and again, if we're taking Putin's figures, it's about about 173,000. They are going through probably the most rudimentary and basic training. The idea is precisely if they can just hold the line through winter, these troops can be turned into reconstituted forces which will give the Russians some kind of potential offensive capability in the spring. But I have to confess, my suspicion is that the main reason why the Russian troops are there is precisely to use Belarusian training facilities.
