Persia's Battle Line

The battle line, you would say, in some periods, a good estimate for a traditional set peace battle with a persian army might be about 25 or 30 football fields long. The armies of this periods near east, tended to be organized decimally. So the smallest unit would be ten men, then up to a hundred than a thousand were told. Most of these persian units are going to have a front rank of spear armed, shielded, often armored, but not always, infantry, that protect the archers behind them.
