The Effects of Extreme Heat on Heart Disease
A single one degree celsius higher temperature was associated with almost a six % higher risk of death. So within those hottest 18 days per year, a single degree in temperature, dramatically increase therisk of death. And of course, if you increased that temperature by two degrees, that would be an almost 11 percent highe risk of death and just compounds on itself. This is really, really alarming when you think about the the climatic change projections that we see that are predicting major increases in the frequency of extremely hot days.
