Is There a Global Trade?

This is a bazarre reading of history that there wasn't globel tried before this. What were the british doing prior to the second world ware? In the first world war, for that matter? The chinese were globally trading. For goodness sake. Technology increased, and surely there was a an aptic in the amount of global tra in. But this denial of the existence of global trade before this, i don't understand. I guess i have to read his book to see where it's coming from. There has been, by his own admission, there an improvement in things.
