How Much Retinol Should You Use to Make It Effective?

The FDA only regulates the use of retinolic acid and prescription products. Canada does have an upper limit and it's 1.0% retinol equivalent, which means if it's retinol itself, 1% is the upper limit. In Europe, that limit is actually significantly lower. It's 0.3%. And again, it's really balancing. I think what the regulators are trying to do is balancing efficacy and safety in terms of the potential for irritation.
