I have no problem with people doing what it takes to relieve themselves of discomfort. Call it magic if you want. Call it a placebo effect. Doesn't matter. There is a place for that within a rational worldview. It's not the fault of industrialized medicine that the spell for stomach ache failed to work. The claim that saying some words and imbibing a particular tincture was going to fix your disease just wasn't there.
