The Importance of Dreams in Life
I was supposed to do an internship in my senior year, and then I was going to hopefully get the full-time job. And it was kind of bittersweet because what happened is they got this massive loan from the Department of Energy. The more I read about it, the more obsessed I became with this team and the underdog mentality they were taking. So just before I got the job, they made it to orbit. They're basically bootstrapping an orbital rocket on a tiny little island where people are essentially commuting to it by boat or by helicopter airplane. It's outrageously corrosive. Three rockets had blown up. "It sounded like just this insane novel," he says.
