A third of the world is still using animal dung and wood as a major source of energy. Even places that are using energy in a way we would consider dirty, it's often replacing a form of energy we would even consider dirtier. And then the final thing with air pollution that's really just evaded is we have really good and increasingly cheap technology for getting a lot of energy from fossil fuels while having lower air pollution.
