Andrew Jenkinson believes we need to understand the chemical signals controlling our appetite in the context of a wider process unfolding within all of our bodies. He says everyone has their own weight set point and the body will do its best to defend that weight set point. In search of answers, he looked at the populations around the world with high levels of obesity, including Pacific Islanders. Why would Pacific Islanders put so much weight on? One explanation could be found in the deep history of the Islanders.
