What Happens After High Severity Wildfire?
Lodgepole needs scarification by fire to open up its seeds and allow them to germinate. And so when you have a wildfire come through in a lodgepole area, all that will spring up pretty much is lodgepole because they do very well in that system. So it's just this never-ending cycle of lodgepole dominated stands. Some other areas in which one species maybe, you know, is not doing well due to drought, they start to die back. But now with this increased opening of resources such as more sunlight due to the canopy being opened or more moisture because there's less competition for it, they can survive. We might see a shift in some of these stands
