What Can We Learn From China?

In the last three or four years, china has functionally overhauled its system of children and the law. The state is creating a more robust system for investigating that and even removing children from their parents custody. It's an overt imposition of values for political ends but there's also much more subtle things like a clear preference for parents, biological parents, to be the guardians of their children. And now we're putting them in departments under the relevant government ministry. You know, I recently described it as 'china loves to work in hierarchical systems'
