Are We Making Body Issues Worse?
wall street journal says its uncovered internal communications at instagram and its parent company facebook about research it conducted into the harm done to teen aged girls. The presentation found that amongst teens who reported suicidal thoughts, 13% of british users and six % of americans trace that back to instagram. Instagram says it's increasingly focused on a dressing, negative social comparison and negative body image. Tiktok, meanwhile, has announced new features to help users struggling with mental health. They include suggesting places for support for eating disorders and sources of help if they search for terms like suicide.
