The Impossible Nation

The indispensable nation has become like a trope. George Packer's most recent essay in the Atlantic is more militarist imperial blather than anything I've ever seen, says John Avlon. The U.S. needs to maintain or renew this sense of indispensable on the part of the United States and that's more important than any one person can possibly know about it but there are lessons to be learned from his book.
