The Relationship Between a Shepherd and a Flock
In both old and new testaments, the patriarchs were shepherds. David himself spoke of the lord as his own shepherd in the 20 third psalm. In exodus, moses, the shepherd, leads israel out of egypt with a shepherd's rod. The connection between israel and a flock, and its leaders and shepherds are found throughout the scriptures.
