We have a beautiful soul, but we have a long way to go to support parents and children. Despite having the highest g d p in the world, America is relatively stingy when it comes to supporting kids and parents. We use the term american individualism as another way to say, in noet, society plays no role in supporting parents. That means, for parents, it's all on you. Unfortunately, it's not so easy.
