The Impossible Profession of Love
Freud: Being in love outside of the analytic situation is actually more akin to an abnormal than to a normal mental state. All these things are the case in everything we recognize as love, aren't they? Like repetitions of infantile patterns, new versions of old reactions. And so like Freud doesn't really get, he doesn't put it in so many words, but kind of what Dan was getting at earlier is sort of like the kicker here and all of his transference love.
