Bose was against Tagore's idea of Vishwaman, the universal global citizen. His point of view was unless you are rooted, you cannot be floating around in empty space. And he didn't have to obliterate his identity to become a world citizen. He sided with Hindu students who wanted to do Saraswati Kuchan at Calcutta college. That created a rift and bitterness with Tagore because Tagore thought this was sacrilege.
