Michael smith had a jupiter talisman around his neck when he died. It was said to have hands up, or something like yed, the masonic symbol of distress. The medallion still exists and there are pictures of it. If you know anything about joseph smith, i guess you could maybe say that he certainly had remarkable confidence in himself. So i suppose it was doing its job there, though perhaps it failed in preventing him being murdered.
