Tory leadership contest began in october, and then they announced the winner in december. That gave David cameron months to jostle forwards for party's top job. Main division seems to be between this big, wide, sort of open field of candidates that you say will be culled quite quickly. Front runner rishi suna is preaching a more fiscally conservative view than boris johnson.
