I Don't Blame Gary Linneker for Using the Analogue That Everybody Knows
I don't blame Linneker, particularly in a reply, he didn't write an essay here. And we all say all sorts of things on Twitter that we're just like in a bit of a faff. We don't expect them to be picked over by every magazine and newspaper for one whole week of national attention. I also think because of precisely what you've just said that actually the correct analogy is with our own behavior in Britain and America. That's it. It lets Britain off the hook.
