The Importance of Beliefs in Magic

When I got to Cambridge, there's a really good collection of Crowley stuff in the library. And one of the things he said is very fundamental to my way of looking at magic. You have a will to make something happen and you get results - that is magic. But what you can't deduce that is, therefore, something about the nature of reality, which is absolute. So if you've invoked a spirited done things, it doesn't prove in a scientific way that spirits exist. Just you found a way of working that works. It feeds into my idea of different ways of looking at the world, and you get different results.
