Early mythologies are full of this kind of thing. The vast majority of what these people needed to know about the world is learned more easily through mimesus in narrative than it is by theory. If i want to tell you how to tie your shoes over the phone, i would actually have to think about that for a second. It's not easy to take something like that and just explain it. For us moderns, these three modes of cognition are so natural and so intertwined that they usually just melt together. But understanding that they are, in fact, separate modes is extremely important.
