Is Hal Broken? Just a Moment
The story says just a moment is so eerie because his dialogue is so smooth. The weird familiarity of Hal is that like, he sounds like your grandfather being like, you have to let me finish reading this chapter of the book before you bother me with something. But it's the closest he sounds to a sci-fi robot. He does have that, you know, lost in space, warning, warning.
