Logical positivism is a movement that wants to get away from all the unverifiable speculation in philosophy. To some, these sorts of grandiose ethical claims are among the most important things to be talking about. But when it comes to what philosophy should be spending its time on, they say those sorts of things are a waste of time. The truth and value of any claim always lies in its verifiability, can it be verified empirically? If not, philosophy shouldn't be discussing it.
