The Risks of Self Advocacy in Middle School
In middle school, it's harder to take academic risks when you're consumed by what's happening around you so and with your peers. We have to teach kids how to take those risks incrementally. The way i do it with students is to ask them to rate a risk on a scale of one to ten. Even texting some that they want to hang out with can be a really big risk for a seventh grade boy or girl.
