Introduction
In zephaniah, chapter one the prophet announced the coming of the dread day of the lord. The imagery of the opening verse is variously understood. Commentators commonly understand it to be referring to some act of gathering but doing so using a typical terminology. A specific sort of gathering might be in view here. Jim roberts argued that the terms used here present the gathering of the people under the image of the gathering of worthless stubble.
