The Function of Language
In the essay on truth and lies, Nietzsche talks about how Romans for each god or goddess divided up a portion of the sky. He says that confined within these rigid boundaries up there in the sky, that's where this god lives. And he doesn't go into the domain of the other gods. That is what we have done. We've taken thin air, the vast open sky and all of its mystery and majesty but drawn imaginary boundaries cordoning it off certain parts of it. But it has absolutely nothing to do with the reality underneath, so to speak.
