The Brotherhood in 1984
In many respects 1984 is written in opposition to Aldous Huxley's conception of the future where people have been opted out of their freedom. One thing that surprises me about the attack on the proles is I did an investigation on the film about the road to Egan Pier and went and met a lot of the people who'd known him and he respected them. The Brotherhood is the main thought that there might be a political opposition in the book. Winston and Julia find out about it through this figure of O'Brien this very equivocal figure who's the a member of the inner party.
