Peru is home to 36 million people, 4 million of whom live in the Amazon rainforest. Magales spent her first few months getting to know the native communities better. She realized these women rarely had access to a primary care doctor let alone a gynecologist. This was especially complicated for women who were pregnant, or embarasadas.
