Is the Selection Theory Explanatory?

The idea of purpose was totally plunged from science for a while, and teleology was seen as suspect. But I feel like more and more people are getting interested in it now. Do you think it's making making a comeback? Yeah, absolutely. And that functions have the same status as causation.
