Until the late nineteenth century, nobody was embracing the idea of a god who can be moved by our pain or suffering. So to the extent that at the popular level of lived christianity, people have felt free to dismiss those creeds, i think theyhave been drawn to the true. I mean, that's wel if it's not beaten out of us by cultureadand we're not immune from doing either way.
