Symbolic Reasoning for Computer Programming

An expression is referentially transparent just in case you can substitute any sub expression inside of it for another one that refers to the same thing. Gabriela Gonzalez: You can reason abstractly about code. If I have a function whose input is x and its output is x plus zero, I can just get rid of the plus zero even if I don't know what x is. That's an example what I mean by symbolic reasoning.
