Is There a Monolith of Black Community?

For me, fiction allowed me to tell some uncomfortable truths about race that most people might not want to listen to because it's not their experience. The social life my characters have is frequently majority, if not all black. I was really interested in showing many different kinds of black people in different situations. So, there's not this one monolith of black community. Shocking to all, we contain multitudes.
