The Unpredictability of Randomness
The laws of physics apply everywhere and at all times, including to the contents of your own brain. The fact that you or I cannot determine the next place to photon lands is not a fact about the laws of nature. That's about us and our ignorance, that we can only see what's happening in one particular universe at any given time. And then that gets into deep questions about the nature of personhood and the fact that we occupy one place. There's certain things that we don't understand, but we understand that much. David Wheeler: New art is unpredictable, like new scientific discoveries. Is that the unpredictability of randomness or the deeper unknowability of knowledge creation?
