The function of whatever this is is to make approximations. And these approximations get us at least closer to an answer. Like for example, like for example, you hear this noise in the woods. So that was an approximation that was your brain making a judgment on a sound and saying, what does that sound like? It's something that doesn't like being cornered and it's got pointy teeth.
