The Gold Standard for Growth and Success
We need better metrics to quantify growth that matters, or success that matters. We're still using this very simple idea of GDP to measure a country's growth and success. That doesn't at all take into consideration justice or environmental impact or equity. There's lots of academic progress worldwide to develop genuine measures of well-being. If we all adopted the gross national happiness index, we'd be not only happier, but also richer.
