When Should You Use Ultimation?

When should you use ultimation? And why shouldn't you? I think that you use things like that internally to help your processes. But i still think that you've got to man the wheel at the end of the day, and you can't just put things on a auto pilot and hope that they'll turn out the way that you want them.
