The pineal gland is a really good example of how they kind of conflate science with pseudoscience and observation with interpretation. They'll say it promotes DMT, which is the most hallucinogenic compound on planet Earth. There's just all this garbage wrapped up around the pineal gland when you actually ask, okay, can you give me a list of the studies that are peer reviewed?
