The Frederick Convicts Got a Head Start
Courtney says they knew it would take several weeks before the port officer at Hobart town would be notified that the Frederick was late to arrive. So despite them being careful to take the ship in a non-violent way, they knew they would be wanted men. They could be at sea for a month before anyone attempted to pursue them. And by then the convicts hope to be very far away.
