Hate is good for business, right? Facebook knew that its algorithms were sort of elevating polarization and discontent because those heated conversations people spend more time. One of the extraordinary things about the early days of content on TikTok is that it exposed the absurd. It indicated to me that in addition to algorithms there's got to be some sort of human component like pushing these things up at TikTok.
