Santos - Is That Against the First Amendment?
There doesn't seem to be a federal criminal law that covers Santos' plain old lying. There are some state criminal laws that try to punish this kind of fraudulent scheme too, but New York doesn't have those kinds of laws. Even if Congress decided tomorrow to pass a law, let's call it the Santos law, that would punish this type of lying, political lying, it'd probably violate the First Amendment.
