The Jefferson Davis Story
Edgar Allan Poe reportedly spent the majority of his time as a West Point cadet at a local tavern. He said Jefferson Davis was the sole congenial soul in the entire God forsaken place. In August 1826, Davis was yucking it up at a tavern when he told that a superior officer was on his way there looking for him. The two men fell down a 60-foot ravine while trying to get back to campus.
